One of the best weightlifing teams in the county is right here at LHS. Lifting weights isn't as easy as it seems. "Trying to lift more to help out the team because when you lift more you earn more points and go higher up in placement" is one of Hailey Zakos hardest challenge in weightlifting.
In the school year of 2015-2016, Leeburg High School's girls weightlifing team placed 6th in states. Although the girls made it to states, it wasn't a joy ride. They had to place in districk and regionals to even get on the states list. In districk, the girls weightlifting team had 3 champions and 12 of the girls qualified for regionals. The regionals competition had 1 champion and 6 lifters qualified for state. In states, 5 girls placed. Rachel Clemmer placed 2nd in her weight class of 154. Morgan Rhone placed 4th in the weight class of 129. Hannah Harris placed 7th in the 199 weight class. Lyric Odoms placed 10th in the 110 weight class. Dytaisha Johnson placed 11th in her weight class which was 119. When you see these girls give them a hand because they represented Leesburg High School very well.
