Donald J. Trump was born on June 14, 1946. He is our newest President-elect, winning by 58 electoral votes. In June of 2015, Trump announced his candidacy under the Republican party and quickly became the front-runner for his party's nomination. On June 16, 2015, Trump announced he was running with a speech at Trump Tower in New York City. In the speech, Trump drew attention to domestic issues such as illegal immigration, outsourcing, the U.S. national debt, and Islamic terrorism- which all remained large themes during the campaign. He also announced his campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again." Now that Trump is our newest president- elect, he has already begun making some executive decisions by choosing Reince Priebus as his chief of staff, and Rudy Giuliani as his secretary of state. We wish him luck as he goes through his first term as President of the United States.
